I'm trying to figure out the whole

Why is the front axel way out there...

Seems to have been a trend in the day...I LIKE IT...

Its got a stance that says I'm here to do some work.

Why was it this way & why did they depart from this..?????

A bunch of you older than I by a few days Know whats up.

Wheelie control ?

Was the front axle some kind of an upgrade, or option from tricycle gear?

I was kinda kidding about the wheelies.. but did this long wheelbase put more of the tractor weight in the rear axle? The further away from the mass.. the less they hold up..the more on the rears no?

The propane is odd... but, maybe it was more available or cheaper where these units were used?

I think this was originally a road grader tractor , the extended front axle allowed a wide belly mount
blade to angle without interfering with the front wheels.

Duke,

I recall seeing pictures of a similar Case with a tricycle front end that pivoted on that center bearing as a I recall. It looks like they added a beam front axle. Does the axle turn on the pivot or turn on kingpins at the wheels?

I can't tell from the pics how the front end works.

Seems the wheels wold have to pivot by the tire or it would be very hard to steer or take 15 turns of the steering wheel to make it all happen.

There were lots of tractors of this particular era with the front axel way out forward.

Have only seen 1 Deere
Mostly Farmalls ,Internationals...then I saw this thing.

A few years later.....things were back to where we typicly see them today....weird.

I'd never seen one until that one, at a local tractor show. I thought it was factory is was so well done. Wonder why Ford didn't do it?

Way back when I was a kid we had 2 similar to this. One wide and one narrow front end. As I remember they were the identical tractor, just what was bolted on the front. Ours were standard gas models. As I remember a variation of the VAC line.
