LOL, think I might be getting carried away with calculating how much chemical I put down.

I figure we have about 2.07 acres of turf. I split it up into the two parts I normally mow in sections and used AutoCAD and a satellite image to figure square footage. Then made a spreadsheet to calculate different scenarios of tip sizes, mix ratios and speeds.

Then of course the phone mount on the tractor for GPS speedo.

Seems like when you are spraying chemical with a mix ratio of 5-8 oz per 30 gallons of water for an acre coverage you really need to be pretty accurate. The label talks about not using more than a certain amount on different types of grasses.

My spraying is going to suck as I have a lot of trees and as you can see in the image below and nothing straight !

Looks great. What is the GPS app you are using on your phone?

What chemical are you spraying Rich? A quarter ounce per gallon is not much. Is it a preventer, weed control or fertilizer?

Pre-emergant.

Tenacity is what its called.

I dislike spraying with a chemical that needs a lot of water and little chemical. 30 gallons per acre is difficult with the a average homeowner sprayer. I looks like you are on the right path! Thats a lot of water to put down.

I am with you on that.

6-7 oz to 30 gallons of water leaves a lot of room for error.

I dont have a lot of choice in this instance on what I use. I have two options. I need a pre-emergant to kill crabgrass in the worst way. Problem is I will be adding seed for the next 3 or 4 years I am guessing. So I need something that doesnt kill off new seed. Tenacity...

Thank you Rich.
spreadsheet looks cool, would you be willing to share?

Absolutely. But I want to clean up some stuff so its more user friendly. Right now you need to know what cells you can change without breaking it.

I need to be more descriptive and protect some cells so that doesnt happen.

I'll take one too please.
OK cleaned some stuff up and protected the cells you shouldnt change.

Please let me know if you have any issues with it or find errors.

I have added comments to the cells so all you have to do is mouse over the cell for a description.

Use this at your own risk. I assume no responsibility nor does GreenTractorTalk. I have no idea what I am doing although I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express once.

Here is a zipped version of the file.

I use a product called Trimec (herbicide). I called the manufacturer a few years ago, because the calculations for my yard came out to a couple hundred gallons of water, and my sprayer only holds 40 gallons.

I was told by them that the important part is the oz./1000 square foot ratio. The amount of water that you use can vary, as long as that ratio stays the same. I think their product was 1 oz/1000 sq. ft./4 gallons of water. They said I can decrease the water to 1 gallon, as long as the herbicide is 1 oz./1000 sq. ft.
