I know there must be a simple trick to getting the shield off this PTO shaft, but it has me stumped. I assume it involves the lighter colored tabs in the photo below, but my efforts so far have been fruitless. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be most grateful!

I agree. Remove the screw or bolt that is visible, then rotate as stated above and it should separate.

BRILLIANT! Thanks very much, guys. It works just as you said. I had already figured that the little screw had to come out, but I never would have figured out the other part. Thanks again!

Is that a screw or a grease zerk?
The photo shows a grease zerk. The screw is on the other side, but I had already removed it before taking this shot.
