1025R has a little over 200 hours on it. I was going to do a hydraulic fluid change but my dealer said I can wait until 400 hours and to just change the filter. Is this wise and can the filter be changed without loosing too much fluid?

Oil and filters are cheap....hydro's are expensive. For less than $100 for both the filter and the oil, I would change it.

I would want to at least look at the magnet and see what it's collected....

It doesn't matter how much you lose. Have a clean drain pan, and if your going by your dealer put it back in the tractor. Assuming it has no green tint to it , indicating moisture. Tho it takes an awful lot of moisture to affect operation.

I changed mine at 50 and 200....but times have changed I reckon.

I changed mine at 50 and every 100 or a year, whichever comes first. All filters and all fluids.
