I added a couple of eye droppers worth to my front axle, and now I can easily read the axle's oil level.
Now the oil looks like ATF; but who cares since I do my own oil changes. If I ever need to haul it in for axle service, I'll let the shop's service writer know I dyed the axle's oil red.
