In another post I requested recommendations for an replacement engine to be used on my wood chipper. The chipper is a drum chipper currently powered by a 9.5hp Kohler. Basic engine with pull start.

After quite a bit of research, talks with OEM users of small engines, and discussions with a number of engine rebuilders I came to find out that the highest rated lowest priced engines are being produced by the company LIFAN. This is a Chinese company who OEMs engines for a large number of companies, manufactures cars, and any number of other small engine powered devices. Come to find out that LIFAN is to China what Honda is to Japan. In a nutshell the LIFAN engines were recommended far and above Duramax, Predetor, etc. for quality.

They are also backed by a 3 year warranty with parts available from locations here in the good old USA. I bought a 420cc 15HP engine with electric start. The cost was $339.00 delivered from HD.
