I would seriously consider hunting down a pto equipped trans-axle,,,
that way, you could make ice cream to go with the sandwiches,,,

My pto equipped Cub Cadet,,,

Is that a Peterbilt hood ornament on it?
On my lower photo, I don't recall. That was just one of the cub cadets at the yesteryear show in longmont.

Well, this is the beginning of my rebuild thread.

Some may remember this from a previous post~ http://www.greentractortalk.com/forums/tractor-events-shows/72777-antique-farm-show-longmont-colo.html#post1138322

This is how the rebuild starts.

The goal is this, it will be original IH colors.

Missing a few parts, but hope to remedy that soon.

I'll keep this thread going throughout the build, it may take a few months though.
Remember those from ages ago when the IH dealer handled them in town, they never took off big time down here.
Most folks were buying regular cubs for gardens and big yards back in the 60's.

Will be interesting to see how your rebuild goes, always liked the looks of the originals.:good2:

Just find a Farmall cub read end. Same thing.

That actually doesn't work that well. The Cub PTO turns engine speed, the PTO shaft has to be cut and splined to work properly in a gear drive CC. Then it ends up running 515 rpm the wrong way because of the 7:1 reduction gear in front of the transmission.
No factory rear PTO attachments ever made until the 2000 rpm PTO on the 982. Only homemade attachments or the Hub City gearboxes to reverse direction and adjust speed to 540 rpm.
Yeah, they're kinda cool, but in the 55 years I've been around Cub Cadets I've never seen the need for one. Now, an M&W 9-speed for an Original might actually get me to buy an original. But failing that, I'll never have an original or a Quiet Line.

I'll take the best parts from the two, keep the duplicates as spares.

One more addition

For anyone who missed my Good Morning post, I've added 1 more Original to the fold.

This one runs and works. Needs a few minor things, but overall in pretty good shape.
