iMatch Quick hitch question.

Well after driving myself crazy (as usual) I finally went down to JD dealer and offered them something other than the tagged price on a left over left outside Frontier RB1072. I was pleased that they accepted my offer. Looking around the implement area I noticed that a couple of the LandPride box blades that I had lusted over for some time had price tags swinging in the wind, which is something the dealer usually does not do.
I was more then pleased to find that a BB1554 was on quite a sale. I was after the BB1560, but it was not on sale. I could not resist the price. I brought home both RB1072, and the BB1554

I am trying to educate myself on the proper bushings I need to acquire to adapt both of them to my JD iMatch quick hitch.

I downloaded the specs for ASAE Category 1 Standard S278.6 and copied these specs.
CAT 1 top link 3/4" Lift arm 7/8"
CAT 2 top link 1" Lift arm 1 1/8"
CAT 3 top link 1 1/4" Lift arm 1 7/16"

I trotted out and measured my existing bushings on my JD ballast box.
The top bushing is 1.25"
The bottom Quick Hitch adapter is 1.44"

I tought I needed to go from CAT 1 to CAT 2, but judging from the specs I need to go from CAT 1 to CAt 3 does that sound correct.

I would include some pictures, but we have battened down the hatches for a snowstorm, and everything is tarped on the trailer.

You hit it right on for sizes of the bushings you need. JD sells the bushings for their equip and you can get ones for standard 3 pt stuff like the Landpride blades anywhere they sell quick hitches. Harbor freight etc.
Thanks Sasksman49 I guess I got sidetracked after reading the statement below of the net.

This is the statement that led me astray.

"ASAE Standard Quick Hitch Pin Dimensions
An ASAE standard Category 1 quick hitch actually requires Category 2 hitch pins at the top and bottom"

Looks like http://www.belarusagsupply.com/QUICK-HITCH-ADAPTER-KIT-CAT-1-3_p_692.html is the best place for my adapters.

Anybody know where I can but CAT 1 to CAT 3 bushings? I can find CAT 1 to CAT 2, or CAT 2 to CAT 3, but no CAT 1 to CAT 3.
Is there room to install the second adapter over the first to get CAT 3 ?

That is a very good price for those bushings, I think I paid abt $20.00 a set up here for them. LVU15507 is the JD part number for the short bushing for the lower pins that work on things like the 647 /655 tillers and Frontier BB etc. I paid the dealer abt $12.00 ea for them.

Yes, that is is correct. CAT1>CAT3 is what you want.

I have been recommending them for a long time (They just changed their name-used to be Agri Supply I think), I just bought four sets from them myself.

No, and Yes.

If you search the term "bushings" and "imatch" there are lots of threads that deal with all of this.

Took a ride over to TSC and looked at the CAT 1 to CAT 2, and CAT 2 to CAT 3 bushings.

Your right Ken some lengths fit inside one another and others don't. So it's going to be hard to order over the web, and be sure that they nest together.

Another issue I have is that the captured hitch pins I need to build out to from CAT 1 to CAT3 need to be 2" long to fill out the area between the bracing.
I sent an E-mail to LandPride today asking if they know of a supplier that I can buy from.

I bought my TL bushings from Belarus also when I got the lower bushings, but I have not installed them on anything yet.

If you need something custom, let me know and I will see if I can help.

Read the label more closely, if it has a TL then it is a top link cat 1-2 or 2-3 bushing which is smaller than lower link bushings. A 2-3TL will not fit over a 1-2 lower link bushing.

BethesdaEC good point. Thanks I never thought of top verses lift arm bushings. There was just an two open "baskets" on a shelf with bushings
.
Ken thanks I'm still searching and asking around.

The JD part number I gave you in my first post is what you are looking for.

For what its worth. No expert here :)

On my 2305 I have same issue going Cat 1 to 3 on the top link.

It requires a 3/4" pin. I then use a Cat 2-1 bushing which is 3/4 ID and 1" OD.

Then I use a Cat 2-3 bushing which is 1" ID and 1 1/4" OD.

If you are trying to get from a 3/4" hole on your implement to the 1 1/4 diameter used on the quick hitch then this will work.

Next time I get a chunk of 1 1/4 shaft I plan to make myself a half dozen sets of 3/4 to 1 1/4 bushings.

RRMCCABE Thnaks, but I am trying to go from CAT 1 (7/8") up to CAT 3. I appreciate your reply.

Saskman49 nothing like having to lead me around on a leash :slap-yourself-emotithanks for the part number I checked JD parts and my dealer (33 miles away) has 3 in stock.
I am headed there tomorrow. Then I am driving up to Saskatchewann to to give you a beer. Is Molson ok?

PS You should invite me up to go Whitetail hunting. You grow them huge up there.

Back from the JD dealer. I installed the new bushings. They fit perfectly. Thanks again.
No pictures yet everything still tarped, and another snow storm on the way.
Here are the Land Pride bushing part numbers for various lengths that may be required. I have not checked pricing on these ones so they may be more or less than the Deere ones.

This is like the folks who text and then do their shorthand on discussion groups. BB RB I have a link for internet slang but doubt it has tractor stuff. BB= box blade RB= rear blade had to look it up didn't rb was round baler.

As to the various size three point hitches the spacing of the pins varies. cat 1 is like 26+" horiz and 18" vertical, cat 2 is 32+ horiz and 19 vertical, cat three is more I just use those bushings for spacers and shims. If you want to hook up easier than fixed link ends there are optional pull out draft link ends and draft link ends with open tops that snatch onto the ball. Obviously this imatch quich hitch seems popular around here. With the normal three point hitch lift arms I find that when putting the 7/8 pin in the 1 1/8 hole with a bushing It kind of needs a washer on both sides. The bushings are generally available at the dealer not sure why one couldn't just use two one inside the other. Not sure about the length when you get to cat 3.
Not sure if you are using sone imatch thing I am not familiar with or just normal pins. Some lift arms have a way to change the ball instead of use bushings. The Case 485 has lift arms with one size ball on one end and the other on the other end, the pins are shouldered so they can be used either way which is a real labor intensive way to change things around. Same thing with the top link. I might note it has different sockets on the tractor for the lower lift arm depending on what you set up.
