Welcome to the new cold war. Most of this $h!t is coming out of Russia and very likely state sponsored. If they can get into federal government servers there is nothing we can protect. Its going to be one thing after another until they find something really bad like utilities or nuclear facilities. This is only the beginning. I have a sneaking hunch that they are egging the little a-hole from North Korea on to draw us into an all out nuclear confrontation with them and make no mistake. When they do, they will be siding with Kim Jung A$$hat lock, stock and barrel. Things are about to get very interesting.

I agree with you 100%. Interesting in further research I found Piriform has been "swallowed by Avast".

"Putin, Putin, who's got the Putin?" Anyone still using Putin's private computer security program "Kaspersky"? Whatta laugh!

Sadly, my Windows Vista (good enough for what I use it for) security ended this summer, it was trouble free, worked, and took very little resources. "Hey Dummy, you gotta buy a new Windows 10 computer now!" Mo' money, mo' money!":nunu:

Isn't this a Chinese curse? "May you live in interesting times."

I'd just as soon live in boring times. I like interesting people, projects, books etc. but sure don't need a Korean madman aiming nuclear tipped missiles my way. I keep hoping that somehow one of his test missiles will land on his head. I guess Clinton, Bush 43 and especially Obama managed to finish their terms by appeasement but we might really pay the price now. I pray for my kids and the South Koreans. I'd have no problem if North Korean was totally taken out but we can't do it without a lot of collateral damage to South Korea.

Maybe the preppers aren't so crazy after all.

Rumor has it he's in the marketing stage of development looking for investors to ultimately sell the finished products to. I wonder who will buy them? Certainly not us Japan, or any other NATO backed nation. The Russions dont need them and neither do the Chinese. There's this new Islamic nutjob millitant group (ISIS, for those who have been sleeping for the last 10 years) however with a sizable financial ability that may be talking to him already. If you think thats not their style, think again. The cell phone didn't come along by accident and them adapting to what's possible or available won't either.

We use this garbage at work. Drives me insane but for some god-awful reason our IT guys won't go away from it.
For those of you who are aware of Urban Dictionary, their entry for Kaspersky is pretty much spot-on. "The only thing that can kill Kaspersky is Kaspersky... and that is not in Kaspersky's best interest."

A scary thought just crossed my mind today as I crossed a bridge. I took a look off to the side while sitting in traffic. I seen what is left of Bethlehem Steel. I can remember my dad telling me that Russia probably had an ICBM pointed right at us. This was during the Cold War. They would definitely want to take out one of the U.S.'s #1 steel producers first thing in the event of a war. Now that the place is a casino I hope someone over there re aimed that rocket at another target.

However nuking the Sands casino would be a fitting end. My dad would be rolling over in his grave if he seen what was done to the place.

it's a sad-sad thing that has happened to ALL OUR STEEL MILLS IN THE USA. my cousin still hauls steel-and when he told me that Bethlehem steel in Baltimore was leveled i just stood there-as it was hard to believe it was gone. he told me all his steel going west comes out of the piers in Baltimore-and it came across the water. i only got to haul maybe 2 loads out of Bethlehem, Pa. that was in 86. i never got offered any loads out of there in 92-that was when i bought my own outfit.

Sadly, price isn't the only thing to fall. The quality of most everything that comes from the chi-coms is second rate at best. Nothing p!sses me off more than stripping screwheads off that I know darn well never would have happened even 10 years ago. :banghead:

I like the Chinese stainless steel... that rusts quicker than their non-stainless!

Shooting down NK missles...?

Do we or anyone else on the globe really have real "shoot down" technology? I wonder. Remember the phrase "Mutually Assured Destruction"? It meant that Ruskies and the U.S. knew EXACTLY what would happen should we or they land a nuke. M.A.D. was understood so well by nuclear armed countries that none of them developed much of a "Shoot Down Program".

"Starwars Defense System" was only whispered about by Regan in Iceland and Krushchev and his generals went nuts because they had nothing (Neither really, did we). Since everybody knows you don't tug on Superman's cape nobody really needed a Starwars program... nobody, even the ChiComs wouldn't push the button. Until now there was enough common sense regarding the obvious.

We'd better get busy 'cause soon after Rocket Man will come a wacked out Ayatollah to send airmail packages from the other direction.

Say, are there any retired teachers left that can teach the "Duck and Cover" curriculum in today's schools?
