Needs to check the voltage while trying to start the tractor first. Current Goes Up - Voltage Goes Down.A high resistance connection can and will do that very thing. It'll show full power at a terminal until a high current draw is needed. I'd check the battery connections first. Remove and clean the cable ends thoroughly and grease them after reinstallation. Then I'd move onto the ignition switch and start troubleshooting it.

Start at the battery first. Voltage drops like a rock, replace battery.Absolutely correct. However, if you measure before a high resistance connection, you may not see a voltage drop. In this case, he might have a HR connection preventing said current increase (starter working).
