I have a jd 430 diesel that's getting restorated but I got it without the engine. What's a good aftermarket diesel crate engine to slap in their and good reputable places to get them.

I am not aware of any crate engines that will slip right in. It is a 30 to 40 year old tractor, so not sure how/why you acquired one without an engine.

The $3500 one looks interesting. I suspect you could adapt it to fit, but you will need a radiator and some other parts. This will cost more than a whole 430 would worth to most people, not including the labor to install all of that.
