I have a JD 5093E. It starts and runs. Has a shuttle shifter. Sometimes you shift in F or R and works fine other times it works till you get you bale of hay set down then won’t go into gear. Sometimes disconnecting battery and reconnecting will then allow it to work. Once opening and shutting the hood let it work. We’ve checked the seat sensor. Checked fuses. The instrument panel will show the transmission light (gear with !) we’ve drained and refilled fluids. Changed filters. So now what do we check?

Did the transmission ever run hot? If so, you might have an internal hydraulic leak. AKfish

So at this point we found the neutral start safety switch, located near the Hydrolics pump ours isn’t behind the left tire it was under the right side. We used a wire and jumped the safety and it moves. It worked every time that day. I’ve ordered a new one and from what I’ve read when we go to change it out to have a jug or pan that’ll hold about 3 gallon ready cause that much could come out during changing it.

thx for passing that along ...these issues are hard to run down since they are so intermittent and have several ways of happening ....let us know if the problem comes back

You might get a helper to hold a Shop vacuum hose on the fill tube. I say a helper because they could adjust the seal on the tube to just hold back the hydro oil while you're changing the sensor.

Do clean the area around the sensor well because you don't want to suck dirt into the system.:(
