Joust picked up a very nice 1520 tractor and the precious owner said the carb needed adjusted. The tractor will only run with the choke pulled all the way out and has little power. Tried to adjust used the manual but could not get it adjusted. Any helpful comments would be appreciate. My ultimates goal is to restore and use it a little brush hogging. Tha ks

The carb is running too lean because the idle circuit is likely restricted with varnish or debris / rust. The carb should be removed, disassembled, soaked, cleaned out and reassembled. If the float bowl has rust in it the fuel tank is likely the culprit and should be cleaned.

As mentioned above, most likely the carburetor needs a thorough cleaning and rebuild. But first I would check the flow of fuel from the tank to be sure something isn’t clogged. Also disconnect fuel line from the carb and remove the elbow from the carb. It has a screen in it that could be clogged and restricting flow of gas into it.
