Hi i'm replacing the needle bearing and seal in the splined tube of the gearbox transfer pump and i think i have read that when fitting the new seal the lips of the seal must face the engine and not the normal lips to oil(back end) is this correct as old seal was seal lips to back end.

Hi Andy. Probably a bit late now, but I’ve just done all transmission seals in my 3350 and my seal faced to the back. It was rear facing coming out and I put the second one I bought (don’t ask about the first one) back the same. Seems to be fine and I’ve seen pictures of it being the correct orientation.
