S#MOO430x360963, Today while tilling the tractor died, If you try to restart, it turns over fast. It will not restart. We had to leave the tiller in the garden and pull the tractor to the garage with the other tractor. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem, and if so can the part even be got anymore? Appreciate any help. Thanks so much

Parts...probly

Your symptom of fast cranking sounds bad.

I'm leaning towards timing chain and not even sure if it has one...likely yes.

Otherwise......bent/burnt valve..hole in piston...tossed all the rods...idk

Any external leaks ....oil or water..??

Does this model by Chance have a compression release..??

Some tractors of this vintage did.

How do you kill /turn off this tractor when its working properly??

you may be in luck.......doubtful but a maybe.

Have a kubota with this set up and a hose got hung up in the compression release cable/linkage one time.

Doe you hear the fuel pump? Is the fuel solenoid moving when key turned on? Do a fuel bleed on the fuel/water filter to check for fuel. Crack injectors to check for fuel. Finally do a compression test (you have to remove each injector, one at a time). Follow instructions in the tech manuals TM1591 and CTM3 to do it safely. Report back on the fuel checks first.

Do you hear a click when you turn the key to the run position? Is there any smoke when cranking?
Pretty much all the parts are available, but you description of the problem doesn’t help much if any.

I would not dig into the motor or the high pressure fuel side until you troubleshoot the low pressure side.

Fuel filter
Electric pump
Solenoid

At that point I’d go to the high pressure side, not the engine.

A scattered attack is going to do nothing except confuse things if no problem is found, until it runs again there’s a real risk that something that was fine becomes a second simultaneous problem.

Ok, he does hear a click when trying to start it. He did say this morning that there was just a little bit of smoke but not much.

I’d disconnect the input to the fuel filter and turn the key to run and verify it makes a mess. Then you have ruled out the pump, solenoid and pickup.

Fast as in faster than normal, OR fast as in the way it usually does?

Would you by any chance have the tech manual for the rear pto? It wasn't on when the tractor was bought. My father had john deere to add this part. We believe out rear clutch is out. But need help with manual if possible, thanks ?.
