John Deere 6329 with 444 won't start after overhaul

Hi, I bought this JD non-running. I had the head done and I overhauled the motor. It will not start. Will not fire on ether. I have fuel to the motor. It spins and there is a little smoke. Its acting like it might be out of time? Could it be a cam issue? Any suggestions on what else I can do or check? Thanks in advance.

Make sure your intake air / filter and ductwork is not restricted. You need to compress air to make heat. Also check to make sure there's no exhaust restriction. If the engine can't breath it can't make compression and won't start.

Also, if the fuel is old as in ancient it may not be helping the situation.

Next would be a compression test. If compression is too low then you'll need to look at cam timing but only after first checking intake air, exhaust and fuel suggestions.
