I inherited an older LX178. Been fixing on it. Installed mower deck after cleaning and grease job. Totally dead. Replace PTO switch. Mower runs, but only for a minute. Then blows 15A fuse. What else could it be besides the PTO clutch? What should the clutch Ohm value actually be?
thanks

To diagnose, grab a multimeter (harbor freight $10 works) and pull the fuse and see if there's 12v on both sides of the pins, in the fuseholder in series

I believe the PTO to be in the 3-4 Ohm range, and no continuity to ground.

Got it fixed

Mine Ohmed out at 2.8 Ohms. But decided to change it anyway. When I got the clutch assembly off, the top bearing, (the one closest to the motor) was shot. Put the new one on and it works great.

is it possible to replace the bearing for a repair, or in a place that you can't get to it?
