Hi, I am new to this forum . My question is , I have a 1948 - 1949 John Deere M .
Without taking the tractor apart , more than necessary, how do I best access the combination switch and meter wiring to repair or replace it ? The only access I see it a plate in the battery box.
Thanks, any suggestions would be very welcome.

I have a 1952 MC and the easiest way to access the wiring is to pull the battery. The charging relay, switches, hour meter, etc are all right there.

John Deere M wiring issues

Bill,
Thanks for the link to the wiring diagram and photos.
As it turned out the wiring damage was not nearly as bad as it first appeared to be.
Thanks to photos , I was able to see how to access the wiring. The only damage was the terminals on the cut out relay.
I removed the battery tray, and removed the plate that the relay is mounted on. I cleaned up the relay and rewired it.
The only other option was to to take out the gas tank to get at the switch area.
