I have a few questions: Is the PTO clutch bearing replaceable or does one need to replace the entire PTO clutch? If so, i am looking for some advise or tips removing the PTO bolt. Is the bolt a right hand or left hand thread? Thanks for those that will some advice. Cooter

It's right hand thread. Removing without an impact wrench is doubtful. Bearings are not replaceable. Sometimes the clutch becomes seized to the crankshaft and can be a handful to remove. On a STX, unless it is in very good condition, the repair exceeds the value of the unit. Sad but true.

PTO is failing and causing trouble with PTO switch so i replaced the PTO. It came off hard but managed with a two-man deal...one with a pipe wrench on the engine shaft and the second with a socket and a breaker bar. It came off but not with some trouble after rounding off the bolt head. FYI 55 foot pounds on the PTO bolt and use anti-seize when re-installing.
