I have top and tilt installed by dealer at time of purchase. 8/24/2018. Yesterday I parked for lunch and brush hog was on ground in 15 minutes.
Top cylinder works but settles real fast and when you let Bush hog down it will go back in all by itself.
None service item. They tell me it's welded shut.
Is this possible?

I guess you would have to first determine if it truly is the cylinder or if the SCV is leaking. Do you have an easy way to verify it is the cylinder?

If so, you could contact a local hydraulic shop to confirm if the cylinder can be serviced. Just because JD says not doesn't mean it's not possible.

The video I posted here is by Fit Rite hydraulics, you should be able to test if the seals are bad by disconnecting the hydraulic hoses with the ram retracted and trying to pull the ram out.

I have 4th and 5th on the fender of my open station. I did what you stated, I reversed the top and tilt and the issue stayed with the top cylinder.
Thank You!

Sounds good. Before springing for a new cylinder check with any local hydraulics shops that might be in your area. Sometimes they can repair welded cylinders.

Adding check valves may help if your tractor valves are bypassing. It wont help at all if the cylinders piston seal or gland seal is bypassing.

Well found out why it was leaking down. Nut actually backed off of cylinder. We screwed it back together and it's usable but I was quoted by 2 different hydraulic shops at $400.
