I have posted before. I have two three speeds, one woman's and one men's still in the box.

The bikes built in the seventies were:

20 inch high rise - yellow
3 speed - green
5 speed - white
10 speed - black

For which?
According to John Brogan, a specialist in John Deere bicycle restoration, and the official history in the post above yours...
"Three brands were manufactured in Chicago under the Deere name: Deere Leader, Deere Roadster, and the Moline Special. Additional models introduced in 1899 were the Reindeer and Fawn."

IMHO the 1970's Taiwan built bicycles that JD stuck their logo were SORRY. The chrome parts rusted very easily. My neighbor has a 20'' banana seat model that the fenders & handle bars are badly rusted.
The two 5-speeds my In-laws had hanging in their garage looked like new and were 20+ years old when they sold them.

Chrome by it's very nature is porous, and if it gets wet the underlying layers of copper & nickel will corrode.

In a John Deere Bicycle...

John Deere men's bicycle

Please someone tell me someone stuck a JD logo on there!!!
Definitely a legit bike from the 1970's. They had a ladies bike similar too. There were also kids bikes complete with the banana seat. I rode all of these in my youth!
