Lift kit for 7 iron 60D mower?

Have the Autoconnect 60D mower on my 1026R. Really like the mower...cuts well... and, the Autoconnect works like a charm. Been wondering though, how I am going to get under there to get those blades off for sharpening. Also, don't much like the idea of "clean-out" using that water port: Would rather get to it with my high pressure air hose.

I guess car ramps would work... just drive the tractor up on those, and then try to work around the ramps. Would rather, though, find some way to "flip-it" up on its front or rear edge, so could get to the blades with my air wrench, clean it out with high pressure air and bit of scrapping, etc.

Am used to my Grasshopper 620... just flip the switch and the deck stands right up on it's rear edge! Great for clean out, blade sharpening, etc. Would like to find some way to do this with that JD 60D deck. I do have a "baby Bobcat 440B" so have plenty of lifting power... just don't see at this point how to tip that JD deck on its edge and still control it.

I have noticed mention/discussion on this site of those "storage kits" with wheels, where the deck sits on it's edge. Maybe something like that would work, for sharpening, cleaning, etc. How do you get the mower up onto those wheels? Brute force, lots of muscle, or use a loader?

I have had Larry's Mower Axles for a LONG time, I just use the brute force/muscle method to lift the deck to the standing position.
I also have the Larry's Mower Axles. They make it very convenient to work on your deck. Standing your deck up is easy as a 2 man operation---much more difficult with 1 person. Using your loader or Bobcat might be easier yet!

Why not use the FEL like Randy showed you. I just have the 54C and use chain and hooks on FEL and you good to go.

Doug
Excellent post, esp the pics. Only downside I see to using the chain/hooks/FEL is that it assumes the FEL is already mounted. This will be my first summer with the 1026, but I don't envision leaving the FEL mounted due to weight.etc.

I'm about to find out my own best way to deal with this this weekend as the grass is growing. I'm going to try the easy way first, drive up on ramps. then try to just lift myself or with wife and put on Mower Axles and use that approach. finally, try to lift with FEL and chains, but I don't have any hooks yet. (if I buy one more accessory for 1026 wife may kill me!!).

No, it does not make that assumption. Just my opinion NTTTG, but mounting the FEL will be far less trouble. If it takes you more than 5 mimutes to mount the FEL you need to re-evaluate your process. AND, removing the deck should take no longer. It maybe a matter of you just doing it a few times. I mount and remove my FEL and decks all the time and don't think twice about it. But, then again, it just may be me and my goofy ways. :thumbup1gif:
I dont keep my FEL on because of weight either. But I have taken it on and off 5 times in one day because its is so easy to do.

I give up on cleaning the mower deck a few years ago. Doesnt seem to change the quality of my cut any.

Good points Randy. I think you are right and the last few times I mounted/dismounted the FEL it went much faster than the first few. My biggest issue that I didn't describe is that I'm lacking proper storage space for my tractor and attachments so the FEL is in the back of my 3rd garage bay where I park my 1026, turned sideways to save space, with the ballast box right in frornt of it. So i need to get wife's suburban out, drive in/turn, pick up BB, swing around, mount FEL, move out!

But once I can build a proper storage shed/barn...(or buy the small hobby farm wife and I want!), I'm right there with you.

Thats great to know. Since I have no seat time with the 60D yet, I know my thoughts are tainted by my experiences with my old LT180 and the 42" mulching deck. Really looking forward to using the 1026R/60D combo.
Mower deck lift

I like to use the electric hoist I installed in my shop to lift my mower deck. I put a tow strap on the front swivels and lift it high enough to install either the storage wheels, or just let it hang and clean it that way. You can get the hoist at HF for around $140.00 on sale and it can lift up to 880 lbs. You would need something pretty stout to hang it on though. Good luck KHOP:thumbup1gif:
I had to wait till I took my 60D mower down off the shelf in the shed before I could comment on this. I have never been a real strong man, but when I was working I could handle 90lbs bags of cement and build manholes all day with no problems. That being said, if you have a FEL use it or if you don't want to put it on do this instead, I just grab the front edge of the mower and stand its on the back edge by myself even with my back problems, it is no trouble at all.:unknown:
So what ever method you do decide on, I wish you the best & lots of good seat time.:drinks:
I like this: Just have to find some way to hook the chains to the top of the mower. There are a couple of strap iron pieces on top of the mower... 1/4" iron, about 2-3" tall, probably 1 1/4" or so wide... welded to the mower deck... over mid-center to the front, one on each side (although toward the middle of the mower)... so they might work. Not sure what they are for... obviously they are there for something to be bolted into.. not sure what... perhaps the old lift kits, someone said they used to have? Maybe can use them.

Thanks!

Yes, I can see how this could work just fine... use the Bobcat 440B with the dirt bucket on it. Need to think about how to hook the chains; the strap pieces on top, welded to the deck, are probably strong enough. And, they are over dead center, toward the front of the mower.. so, it should pivot back when picked up by the chain from the back, like Randy is doing in the picture (also, the PTO/gear box is toward the back, so the weight should be mainly in the back. Wondering what that deck weighs...
