Have a 5425 and looking for a loader. Is there anything that can indicate which loaders (JD, Quickie, other, used) will fit on the tractor?

For that matter anything that floks can use to determine which loaders fit which tractor frames?

2wd and MFWD tractors used different model loaders. The boom arms are different for the larger front tires of MFWD. A MFWD loader can be used a 2wd, but not the other way around.

IIRC; 2wd used 512, 520, or 521 & MFWD used 540, 541, or 542 (back in their day), there will also be current model(s) that fits. JD dealer will have that information.

Thanks for the link but it only list the newer tractors

Guess I call JD and see what they can advise, but was hoping there would be something it could be just looked up. My 5425 is 4WD

Talked to Dealer in Campbellsville KY and said I can use a 540, 541, 542 and H240 loader. Also said there is not much request for interchangeability. Said if there was the industry would put one together. He made good since

Been looking and there is not much of any in KY, but did find a H240 in Russellville dealer. The sales guy is going to call me back. Then later noticed the H240 appears to use the old style attach, not the newer JD attach. Figure if it doesn't at least have the latest (not skidsteer) JD attachment, not many would want it.

Might be the difference between the 240 and 540's

If its at a dealer you can have them put on whatever carrier (quick attach) you want. You can have a European style, JD style, or skid steer.

Agree, but I'm not wanting to get by as cheap as possible. Would like to add a loader/bucket for no more then maybe 6K, think just adding a different adapter then getting close to new loader prices.

Adapter

Opinions of which adapter is most desirable?

I like the skid steer because its easy to find about anything, but figuring its like what ever someone started with. If they have the JD style for years and probably don't want to change, but wonder what folks look for when buying.

I like SSQA for a 4-series and up, and JDQA for 3-series and down. The global carrier is nice, but you'll pay a premium for attachments when you can find them.

That was the way I was thinking. Found a new global loader (pic above) and can get it for 5K with bucket. Its close enough I can drive over and get it. So if you only need a bucket then all good.

Found another with SSQA 6.5K, no bucket and would need to be shipped.

Could order a SSQA and swap out but with no bucket cost is going way up.

Well, first and second guys decided ot to buy, so I bought a new fuel sender ($93) and exhaust pipe ($197) and going to install and sell as-is later. Also bought a Grammer seat which is Black. Going to place it up for sale in a week or so and see what happens
