I'm tired of blowing grass on the mulch around my trees and into the bosses flower beds.
Can you buy a flapper that would flip down over the discharge chute while i'm going by my trees and flip up when i don't need it? My X748 has hydraulics so maybe i could get a hydraulic one? Is this something you can buy or would i need to get one made? Thanks Kent

John Deere has a MOD. Mulch on Demand kit for the X590 series for the 48" & 52" decks. You could leave off the under deck baffles and just use the electronic flapper possibly.

Mulch on demand is awesome for that. I also use if mowing next to a vehicle or house and don’t want to risk something coming out from the deck. I got the electric actuator so it can be done from the seat. But you can go for a manual version.

I have the 60 inch 7 iron deck. Would the chute hole be wider? I would need a flap that is 19 1/2 wide. Thanks Kent

I like the idea of the electric actuator. My 60 inch deck is a drive over deck. Would there be room for the actuator? Thanks Kent

Interesting topic. I have the same issue blowing grass where it’s not wanted. I think I can Frankenstein my chute (which I took off) into something like this. It’s got all the springs and mounts just needs a turn down and Walla. Can be held up by a Levi anchor down rope

Check out Advanced Chute System. I have one on my Bad Boy zero-turn and like it.

They have models for many different mowers/brands, not just Bad Boy.

I usually mow with the flap held up by a bungee. But I put it down when mowing around the well cap planter. The flap helps keep the grass clipings from going back to the spot I just mowed. I have been thinking about getting a mulch kit for my mmm.

I was thinking that if you cut a section off to hang down over the discharge hole. You could use some hinge brackets to make it solid and have to keep the rope system on to pull the whole thing up. Other thought was maybe some hinges and then you could just lift the flap up or lift both up together.. Just thoughts..
