Looking for wiring help on 4052R Cab lights

1729 Views 12 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  JD Driver
I am installing LED work lights on the front (and rear) of my 4052R. I remove the orange hazard lights on the front of the cab and found an extra wire that I can seem to identify. Its just a single grey wire, one behind each of the hazard lights.
Does anyone have an idea of what its for?

I thinks its the wire to feed each front work light?
Both of the factory work light are wired with a purple and a black, the hazard lights are both wired and i don't remember the colors, this grey wire is not connected to anything, just a single grey wire loose behind the hazards..I have the headliner out and see it routed alongside the other wires inside the cab, but can't see where it goes. I will take some pics and do some voltage checks later today.

The purple and black are correct. Should have purple and black leads in the cab head liner as well or tucked in somewhere going to the console. Not sure about the grey wire ..
According to the parts list, connectors 20 and 19 are L/R Work Light, connectors 3 and 5 are L/R Amber Light, and connectors 23 and 27 are L/R speaker. Connector 18 on the left side (only) is for the optional beacon light.

Are you trying to leave the stock front work lights in place and somehow find some wires that allow you to add an additional pair of front work lights?

This shows the grey wire should feed the amber marker:

It's from the 3x20 tech manual, yes. The new 3R and 4R's should be same I would think since they are basically the same cabs.

Thanks for all the responses. The grey wire up front is not connected to anything...just stored behind the amber light. Didn't check it for voltage or ground today but i will, been working on installing a LED light bar in front and two small LED's in the rear. Not sure how much i will use them but they were a nice Christmas present from my Daughter. I am installing the lights a little different than i have seen people do it here and the wiring is different as well...I also took the headliner out to finally permanently install the two camera and monitor i have been using since July with wire running all over the cab...Trying to do the whole install without adding any new wiring or no factory switches. Had a few bumps along the the way but the lights as almost done. As soon as i get it back together will post some pictures and have some pictures

TX Mango, please photograph whatever you can. All 4 my amber clearance lights and the rotating beacon have stopped working in my 4066R cab tractor. I'm at a loss as to why they have failed.

The first thing to check is the 30 amp F04 fuse.

I pulled and visually checked all the fuses in the load center. I'll take a more thorough look at F04. Thank you!

Yes, the F04 fuse provides power to the S02 Control Center shown here which provides power to the turn/warning/clearance lights. Are the headlights working? Those are also switched by the S02 Control Center, but are provided power from the F08 fuse.

You also mention that the beacon light is not working. This is an entirely separate circuit and switch powered by the F06 fuse. Are you sure you don't have some wiring harness damage somewhere?

Rather than hijacking this thread, this separate issue could be moved to a new thread.
