Running out of options here. mower would only turn over, checked compression first, 90lbs (compression release for start up?) Getting fuel. Grounded plug to block saw no spark, tested primary coil, secondary coil, rectifier, brake switch, seat switch and all relays check ok. still no spark? it is a kohler 15 hp

Best way to test the coil is to remove the ground wire at the coil itself and crank it again. If still no spark then yes most likely the coil is bad. It could be something really weird like the flywheel magnets lost magnetism but that is really unlikely. Is the flywheel key in place and in tact? Good luck.

thankyou for the welcome,
I removed the single white wire from the secondary that leads back to the brake safety switch and ignition and saw no spark? ( the secondary coil is new by the way). fly wheel magnets looked good as well as did the keyway when I had flywheel off examining primary coil which ohms tested good as well.

Coil is gapped correctly? 0.010 should get it to run.
yep .010. is their another safety switch other than the 2 I checked, maybe one for mower deck engagement somewhere that thinks deck is engaged? nope just saw that one doesn't spin over with mower deck engaged going to assume that safety is functioning correctly, im at a loss. maybe the new secondary coil my neighbor put on is actually bad new out of the box?

Safety switches generally prevent the engine from turning over at all. If you're cranking with no spark I would expect the safety systems to be functioning correctly.
well the problem has been solved. the owner had changed the secondary coil but put it in upside down. and it really looks the same sitting either way so I never noticed it but in the end I said your new coil must be bad which it technically was.
