So I am working on getting my 42" snowblower back together form my JD 260. There is a tube on the back of the blower that holds the driveshaft in place with a grease fitting on it that has oil in it, and the oil in it looks pretty old. First should I clean out the old oil, and is there an easy way to do that, or should I just top it off as needed? Second what type of oil should I use in the drive shaft housing, and on the chain that it drives?

Having a 42 on my GX335 I'd sure like to help, but I think we have very different models. Mine has no chain to drive the auger, it's a thick belt. The drive tube on mine takes regular grease gun grease. Other than that, they are the same width.

There's a chain lube that is tacky so it doesn't fly off.
