I like the rear ones because they are direct drive off the three point and you still have use of the bucket to bring down drifts.

heres another link to more used ones http://www.ironsearch.com/IRON-Solution/Farm-Equipment/Lucknow.aspx

I have always read good things about them also...

Price seems a little high since it does not have hydraulic chute rotation. Call a dealer and find out what they retail for.

Ya, i was thinking that too. Going to drop the guy a line to see what model number it is.. I also don't believe it was "used once"

Kerist, I hafta stay out of Kijiji. I contacted Helm, who manufactures the Lucknow. Price is $2090 for that model. Told the guy I'd give him $1500, and he says he'll take it if I show up with cash. I think the wife is going to kill me. Gotta have a look see, and I really should try and justify it. I have the tractor, FEL and backblade AND a F-350 plowtruck. Don't know how much longer the Ford will last, though, or even if it will pass inspection next month, and the blower would be great at throwing snow into the woods off our narrow dirt road. On the other hand I only do our road and two neighbors. Decisions, decisions...

Thanks, but it may have gone South....

Owner writes back and says he forgot to tell me that he has to charge tax (15%) because he purchased through his company. BS. Tax has already been paid on it when he bought it, and I was lead to believe that it was a private sale. Told him I wasn't interested because it went from $1500 to $1725, and I wouldn't be buying it if tax was being applied...

That is crap! I guess he wants to sell it for exactly what he paid for it! Move on...another deal will turn up.

For sure, he even mentioned that I could get the tax back if I bought it through my company (I have a small tree removal and plowing busines). True, provided purchases exceed expenditure then Canada Revenue Agency will refund the difference on tax paid, versus tax charged. However, I went into this expecting it to be a private sale, which it now isn't. Secondly, he dropped from $1800 to $1500 after I pointed out that I had been in contact with the Mfg. and they could sell me a new one for $2090, and he dropped the price quickly at that. I also don't buy that "it was used once". What kind of a person, particularily one that is running a business buys a snowblower and only uses it once, because he sold the tractor. I suppose the new tractor owner might not want a blower, but too many things don't add up for me to get a good feeling from this.
