Hi...am purchasing a stick burner smoker soon and am wondering if anyone has any personal experience using maple wood in their smokers?

Taste, sweetness, level of smoke are the things I'm interested in.

Maple wood kinda/sorta get a lower ranking over Mesquite, Pecan or Oak etc. I have seen folks augment Maple with those three species only. Just trying to help.

I would rank the different woods like this (from relative heaviest to lightest smoke):

Mesquite->Oak & Hickory->Maple->Pecan->Fruit (Apple, cherry, peach, etc)

To me maple and hickory are close with maple a little lighter and sweeter. I use apple almost exclusively and augment with hickory when I'm doing a brisket, or something that needs a little more smoke hit. When I used maple in the past, I would say that it was similar to an apple/hickory mix.
