Model L - minor oil leak

680 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Trips
Was able to get this Model L started after years of being INOP. During the test run I noticed a small hole in the bottom of the flywheel housing that had a cotter pin partly exposed and a minor oil drip was noticed when the NXB engine was running. If anyone can confirm if this is a common/expected situation or may require repair - Thanks

It's been 15+ years since I worked on my "L" and at 72, my mind doesn't work too well!!! Sounds like a rear main seal leak. You may (??) be able to put an oil additive in to soften it again, or seal may be just plain worn... out! Two choices: Pull engine & replace seal or run as is and monitor oil level. Bob
