I have been looking for a good CAT 0 one row cultivator for several months with no luck. I have been looking at a light duty CAT 1 cultivator at Rural King. I am considering modifying it to a CAT 0 3 point hitch to use behind our 430 John Deere garden tractor. Weight shouldn't be a problem at a little over 200 pounds. Can anyone give me a reason I shouldn't do this?

It can be done I have converted CAT 1 to CAT 0. Only thing is you may loose some lift height when going to CAT 0 depending on attachment and how you make the CAT 0 frame work. Another option is to get the CAT 1 hitch arms from Ruegg for your 430.

As long as you can get it far enough off the ground with the lift to move it about, no reason not to convert it. Cat 0 pins are much cheaper than replacing the lift arms.

Thank you for the quick replies. I was going to leave the CAT 1 hitch points as they are and add CAT 0 hitch points below them. That way I could use it on my 2032R or my 430. with the 2032R I can relieve the 430 of mowing duties and make the 430 a dedicated garden tractor.

Having it do double duty is a good plan. Gives it more versatility.
