My 1026R has arrived!!

Well, my new tractor has arrived minus the front blade and iMatch. :yahoo: Those items will be shipped to me once back in stock. It was sad to see my Bobcat CT225 being loaded into the trailer as it was my first "tractor", but I got over it quickly. I hurried up and put the 1026R away since it was starting to snow - course - if the snow gets deep enough, it will have to come out to play.

The guy that brought it didn't know how to take the mower deck off, so I have some reading to do tomorrow since I obviously do not want that on. Noticed a few things right off the bat:
  • There was no grease on the quick carrier zerks, so I'll be going over this thing with a fine-toothed comb
  • There was just enough diesel in it to get to the barn. Seriously - I don't even rate a full tank?!? Had I known that, I would have pumped it out of the Bobcat!
  • Still plastic wrap from the factory plus marks where it looked like it was QC'd - would have thought that stuff would have been removed
  • There was a carraige bolt holding the top link to the box blade
Looks like I've got my work cut out for me this weekend since these were only what was noticed during a quick drive to the barn. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt right now, but my money is on the table that the mower will not autoconnect properly.
Pictures will be forthcoming since I know this thread will be worthless without them...

Congrats!

:yahoo::thumbup1gif::yahoo::thumbup1gif::yahoo::thumbup1gif:

Removal of the deck is real easy. First you have to unlock the height adjusters on all four casters. Second lower the deck to a flat level surface. On the right hand side of the deck in front of the rear tire is the latch. Move it to the unlock position. Next put it 4 wheel drive and low range. Back over the deck keeping your front left tire against the guide rail. Complete!:good2:

Installation of the deck is just as easy. In 4 wheel drive low range drive over the deck keeping the left front tire next to the guide rail until you hear a click. The latching mechanism should lock automatically. Some owners have found putting the PTO selector in the "rear only" position helps the PTO shaft line up. Verify the lock latched if you didn't hear the click. Lift the deck and set your caster height adjusters to your desired setting.:good2:

If you have any connecting issues there is some good reading here

Sounds like a real nice machine and group of implements. You're gonna' like it!

Can't believe your dealer didn't top off the fuel tank. You ought'a fuss at him about that. :nunu: :But that's really small stuff compared to the total deal.

You're going to be able to get a LOT of work done with your new 1026R.

Congratulations . . . !!!
Good Luck with your new family addition! ENJOY!

You can take that to the bank!!
Too bad you have to do what should have been "automatic" by your dealer. I also think you and your fuel can should take a little trip to your dealer.
From reading what all the other 1026 owners have to say about this new machine, seems JD really hit a homerun with this one. You have a real winner in that machine!:good2:

New 1026R

Congrats on getting your new 1026R. I got mine just two days ago after waiting a month for all the parts to come in. My local dealer had to fit the 60D MMM and the FEL. The FEL was assembled in Mexico. I used a heat gun to remove the shipping and assembly stickers. I stuck them in the back cover of the owner's manual for history. I too had 1/4 tank of diesel in the tank. It went real fast. There was also plastic shipping wrap on the hood I had to remove. The front grill guard had been scratched from the mechanic removing it and trying to fit the optional front weight bracket. You can't have both on at the same time. I've since spot painted the scratches. This greentractortalk forum has allowed me to be about three steps ahead of my JD Dealer. My 1026R was only the second unit they have gotten in. I'm VERY pleased with the 1 Series that JD has fielded. I also had some problems getting the 60D MMM deck off. But my JD mechanic talked me through it over the phone. I've since found the section about the step by step actions u need to take to get it off. I didn't try to get it back on yet. I'll address that later down the road. I still have snow in the yard. I'm disappointed my local dealer didn't pay more attention to detail. It's the typical lack of what use to be called, customer service. I got the extra ROPS mounted lights and they work super. I also have a magnet stick on flood light that I place on the lower ROPS cross member and then plug it in to the power plug for rear blade work. At night with everything on, I look like something from Close Encounters of the John Deere Kind :)
Congrats on the new tractor!!! The 1026R's are an awesome looking tractor!
Congrats on your new 1026R! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. It is snowing here now, I am keeping my fingers crossed it will continue and I can get some seat time:thumbup1gif:
My 1023e came with a full tank...id call the dealer and ask "what the hell".
Guss I was a lucky one, Mine 1026R was delieverd by my salesman with a full tank of fuel and every bolt head, lugg head and oil fill cap had marks on them from the prep and set-up check out. 67hrs so far and no problems.
When my 1026R was delivered there were also set up marks visible on bolts etc. The salesman spent about 2 hours explaining and showing how to use and attach/detach the auto-connect deck, the FEL, the snowblower and rototiller. He also showed me how to attach/detach the Tufftop canopy and how to use the imatch quick hitch. There were some "problems" attaching the deck so a mechanic was sent the next day and spent at least an hour reviewing how to attach the deck. I think the deck is more difficult to attach on a concrete surface and takes some "operator experience" to make the process work better.
It sounds to me as if your dealer did not totally do his job and I think you should tell him or John Deere what you think!
Thanks for all the congrats guys - and especially to dieselshadow for the help in getting the deck detached. :drinks: It really was easy, but since we had snow today I'll have to check out if it connects correctly later. As promised, here are the first two pictures of it from yesterday in my garage, and then four from today. Unfortunately, I had to get the deck all snowy since I had to pull the tractor out of the barn to make room so that I could drive off of it. The next picture is my pallet forks - the holes in the pins are not big enough for the hitch pins on the JDQA - I'll have to drill them out. That's what I get for going aftermarket on them!!:banghead:

I did go over the tractor today and while putting on the glare shrouds I found something else that I missed yesterday (can be seen in the second picture) - the left light was put back on backwards when they put on the work lights and brush guards.
Kennyd - I promise to properly mount the grab hooks once I get some JD green for them!

Regarding going back to the dealer - that will be difficult as I purchased this from an out-of-state dealer since my local ones either didn't want my trade, or the price offered for my Bobcat was an insult.

I will say that from the couple of hours that I spent going over the tractor today, plus the time moving snow, I am very impressed with this machine and happy that I made the decision. As many have said - John Deere really stepped it up on this new series. One last thing - the wife saw it for the first time today - and the first words out of her mouth were "It's bigger than I thought it would be!":bye:

Or not getting them from Chris at Artillian:laugh: Who makes those?

What, do have a little duct tape under then now:lol:
When my dealer had my 1026r a set to go, they had me stop in and went over the tractor with me. Showed me how to put on and take of the mower and snowblower, pointed out all the grease zirts, and filters, oil drain plugs.Told me when to do maintaince. This took well over an hour.

The next day the tractor was delieverd with a full tank of fuel. The sales guy showed up a few hours after the tractor was delieverd to make sure everything was as it should be. A week or so later he calls to see how I like the 1026r and if I need anything.

I only have 15 hours on it now, but no problems to date. I may have been able to get a better price some where else, but I am very happy with my local dealer. Sometimes the lowest price is not the best deal.

My original signature showed the Artillian forks as a future want, but the day before my tractor was being delivered my dealer called me up and offered me a set that they just got in for $100 less and add it to the deal with the 0% financing. Now if Chris wants to match that, I'll send these back!!

My dealer said that both the pallet forks and box blade were Frontline, but the pallet forks were made by Northstar and the box blade is a Kodiak. Don't know why he told me Frontline:think:

You mean that duct tape won't work?!?

Also, I tried to make this post like you did (multiple quotes with a posting for each), did not know how to as I could not quickly locate where it shows how to do that.

Wow - now that is what I call customer service. It sounds like you have a great dealer to work with too. I definately agree with you that the lowest price is not always the best deal, but we were talking about a $6k difference, so I can put up with having to do some work on this tractor that the dealer should have done.:nunu:

There is a little button in the editor window that is for quotes, then I just copy&paste text between the code. It looks like this but with brackets: (QUOTE) (/QUOTE) Whatever is in between ends up quoted.
