I've been wanting a new/newer truck for a long time. The kids are grown and the 1999 Suburban does not get used like it used to. Two weekends ago my daughter was returning from the 4H State Horse show with the Suburban pulling a three horse trailer. She had returned her horse and was taking another girls horse to their place. She was almost there when she called me and said the suburban quit, then over heated. She said gauges were normal, it just quit, she pulled over, it would not start, then the coolant tank started overflowing.

By the time I got there it was cool enough to add coolant. I put in almost 2 gallons. Another Dad got there before I did and he checked the oil and it was OK. I tried starting it and it started, but barely ran, it has oil pressure, but is knocking real bad. I pulled forward far enough for another truck to hook up to the horse trailer. Barely running, no power, loud knocking. Towed it home. Next day put the code reader on it and no codes were set.

The wife said you can buy a truck now. I wanted a diesel, but could not justify the price for my use. I bought a 2011 Silverado LTZ with a 6.2L V8. LTZ package was the only way I could find one with the 6.2L V8. I wanted a 6.2 after reading the 5.3 did not tow well and there could be oil burning problems with the newer ones that have AFM. 6.2s were hard to find used with low miles. Black is not my first color choice, but when buying used it's not the top priority. I also do not care for the 20" wheels and short side wall tires. I'll have to find some truck wheels and tires for it. Picture is at the dealer's lot. I pick it up tonight.

Black trucks are sharp, but very hard to keep clean. I used to have a black F-150 that stayed in the garage, and it got dirty in there! I like your new truck!

16,5?? It was 16,5 something, I don't remember for sure. I test drove it last Monday. Black and 20" wheels were my only dislikes. I wanted to find something in a different color. Then the wife said just buy the black truck already. So I made an offer by phone Friday.

Agreed. Originally I was not going to look at it because of the color. But low mileage 6.2s are hard to find in my area. I would have paid more for the right color inside and out. The wife was not willing to make a 200, 250, or 300 miles one way trip to look at the other three I found. Plus none of these were my first or second color choice. I wanted a blue with a gray interior. I was curious to see "steel green metallic"

I agree on the black and 20 inch wheels, but that is a nice looking truck. Because I have a 2009 5.3, I will be interested to see what you have to say about yours.

Looks nice, like you not happy with color or the 20's but buying used not always a choice. Hope you enjoy.

That truck is gorgeous! It'll be a pain to clean, but the rewards for your labor will be sharpest truck on the block. I've got 20's for my 03 Silverado in the summer and 16's for winter. Keeps the chrome nice. The 20's drive nicer I think. The 16's feel sloshy. You'll have to move your tpms otherwise you'll have that annoying light on all the time. I would love that truck. I hate that all the nice usef LTZ's around here are that steel blue or some other "old people" color. That's just me thou.

This my first for TPMS. Winter wheels and tires are a must. I was thinking if the replacements have the tpms sensors I would be OK. I certainly do not want to have the 20s broken down to swap out the tpms sensors.

In my area the only 6.2s I was finding were in LTZs. Black seems to be the color of choice here.

I think all 6.2's were in the LTZ package only. :dunno:

GM marketing: sell them what they want..........but only if they also buy this, this, and this too. My understanding was they let a few LTs slip thru with the 6.2L V8 if you bought the Max towing package. I did not find any for sale.

This truck is loaded with gizmos. The seats are 10 way, just don't ask me what the 10 ways are. They are also heated, but not cooled like the latest trucks. Then they will remember two driver's settings and have a feature called "easy exit" or something like that.

I like the seats without even seeing them.:thumbup1gif:

I agree with 636mullet...black makes for one sharp truck. But then again, I am partial to black as I have a black FX4. This is my first black vehicle and it took some time to get past seeing every knick, scratch or chip when I polish it.

Enjoy that nice looking truck!

Thank you! It's 3 years old and still looks good.

That sound like the exact color I was looking for "old people" Blue Granite Metallic, Imperial Blue Metallic, Sheer Silver Metallic, or possibly Steel Green Metallic (I would have to see that one).

I have a 09 Vibe with TPMS HATE THEM. (another story) any way. For winter I have another set of rims without TPMS. Light on dash stays off ,for about 12 miles of our 21 miles to work. On the way home dash light is on ,but have never noticed any difference . just my 2 cents.

I'm a fan of Victory Red.
I like red too, more on cars than trucks. We had two red S10 Blazers. The wife said no to red she was tired of red, but I never found a red one anyway.

Not of gravel dust however....
We used to be on a gravel road and the farm was too. I am so HAPPY they are both paved now. I would not have bought black if we were still on a gravel road.
