I always loved the whine of the nearly straight cut gears in an M22 rock crusher!It may be, but it's the fact that it uses square cut gears as opposed to beveled gears that makes it finicky to put into gear. The teeth must be perfectly aligned in order to mesh together. It has nothing to do with tolerances.
Anyway, I'll have to start digging into the whole shmere sometime in the future when I get time.
