Put a couple hours on the 4044R tonight , moved some rock and dug up an old tree stump.

The new 17ft batwing finish mower also arrived .
getting ready for mowing season .

Took the loaders off the 4066 and 3039 last night.
cant wait to try out the new batwing .

The Befco they tried to sell me was either 12ft or 15ft. Can't remember which now. That was 5 years ago when I was buying my 110 inch 3pt Befco. It was going to be another $3,000 and that was a special "get rid of it" deal, so it would have been pretty pricey at retail.

JD has some redundancy in their Frontier re-branding. I had a heck of time figuring out which one I wanted to go with.
Mine is the Frontier FM1017 Woods model 17ft the Woods is also offered in Frontier sizes of 12 and 15ft.

Frontier has Befco model as well, actually 2 different ones with some size overlap with all 3. I believe all 3 versions can be had in 15ft. I believe the Befco version goes up to 20 ft model FM2120 if memory serves. The lighter duty befco is the 20 sereis the heavy duty version is the 21.

Best I could tell in any of the specs the Woods was right on par with the 21 sereries heavy duty befco/frontier. There was a couple minor differences that I liked better about the Woods version, so I ordred the Woods/frontier FM1017.

I learned throughout my shopping and researching these bat wing finish mowers , that there is apparently a lot of markup in these units. I had seen new ones priced as low as $18K and had recieved quotes as high as $25K.
I paid $19,300 out the door for mine, including shipping, setup and delivery out to my place. The one I found online for 18K would have had a very healthy shipping bill added to it, making it higher then the one I bought. The dealer ordered it from deere and had it on the lot in about 30 days.

Depending on size, series etc. I would say the going rate for a good deal on one of these bat wing finish mowers is within the 15-20K range. MSRP List prices seem to come in around 5-6k higher then that.

We had a beautiful Sunday afternoon here, I got the mowing height set on the new bat wing mower, then mowed with it for the first time. It worked just like I had hoped, cut my mowing time down from 8hrs to 3rs. Only used the bat wing for about an hour of that to knock out all the larger open areas, then followed up with the 3039R and X758 finishing up all the tighter or more challenging terrain.

Then took out the 4044R till dark for about 4 hours of work on moving rip-rap (very large gravel) . Building a land bridge for the gator passing through a low wooded marshy area to be able to gain year around access to the back of my property even when the pond/small lake is up like it is right now.

It was what I call a perfect tractor time Sunday.
