Hello. New North Carolina owner of a 3035D. Second day with the tractor and while using a land plane, I managed to bend the bolt on the adjustable link end. I believe the part is called the Yoke Link End, LVA14830.

Curious if anyone else has had this issue as it seems to be a weak point in the design if I can't push the plow backwards.

Thank you!
Jay

Did the land plane or the other side bend. Trying to figure out how one side bent?

I am not sure I have seen land planes pushed backwards.

You do have to be careful about pushing backwards with something on the 3 point, it's designed to pull loads, not push. It's best that that piece bent instead of the cast iron rear housing getting broken.

If is does not affect how low it can go to much you might thread both sides in to make it a little stronger.

Just the one side, it caught on a rock and twisted. I have ordered a replacement and hopefully it was a fluke.
Straiten that one and add the new one to the other side.
Now you will have more adjustment for things like a box blade or...?

That is your issue. Nothing to do with the integrity of your 3pt. IF your going to run in reverse utilizing the 3pt take it slow. I have never used a land plane and do not know how it works but I suspect you were trying to take to much at once or going to fast or a combination of both.

We always plowed our driveway in reverse on the farm with a back blade. The blade was the weak point thank god. I don't know how many times we caught the corner of the blade and would stop the tractor. 65 hp 3rd gear in reverse is not slow.

I did the same for many years - a cat 1 rear blade on a cat 2 tractor. Yeah - lots of bending…

But snow removal in reverse is different than a ground engaging implement. As was said if you have to have to take it very slowly and pay close attention to what the 3 point arms are doing.

I also push in reverse but I'm aware that if I'm not careful something could get broken.

I'd say you got very lucky that nothing else broke. I've seen some of those adjustable links bent a little bit but never completely pretzeled like that one. As many others said, the 3pt is not made for pushing backward. I still push backward a little bit with the box blade and grader blade, but I use common sense. I learned the hard way shortly after we bought the tractor almost 3 years ago that pushing backward and digging backward with the box blade is a no no. Bent both the bottom pins and tweaked the whole hitch assembly on the box blade. Replaced the bottom pins and it's been fine, Actually works with the new quick hitch with the KBOH extended top hook. I still run backward with the box blade and blade, but I try to only move small amounts of material, and only move loose material, not digging into virgin soil.

The simple answer is don't push backward at all with it, the longer answer is if you are an experienced operator and have a feel for the machine you technically can push backward with you implement and not damage anything, you just have to be very very careful and know your limits.

Appreciate all the replies. Twenty years on this mountain and driveway with a smaller tractor, while maintaining a 1/4 mile steep gravel driveway leads to a learning curve with a larger tractor with more horsepower. Fortunately, I never move fast while pulling the land plane and it was an easy fix. Part of the reason I prefer a gear tractor in the ability to control the speed of travel while maintaining power.

With my box blade caught the corner on a tree in raised position reversing. I used it all weekend and it finally snapped Sunday night. Dealer not in stock they charged me 13.50$ for overnight

I did same thing.
Many of us have. Sometimes it is because we didn't know better, sometimes it is just because stuff happens. I've not yet broken a 3pt hitch, but I have re-configured a few things connected to it.....

If you've run equipment enough you've been in a spot or two, even when you've done everything right.

As long as no one gets hurt, tractors and stuff can be fixed.
