Dad made these rails up out of an old kids bunk bed frame. There aren't quite finished, need to be cleaned and painted, but I tried them out with a good load of wood today.

Gee -- I feel like I was not working very hard...
I did not make rails, just a trailer out of a spare bed...

I piled it higher than normal just to get the rest of the stack on so I didn't have to come back to that spot.

I don't win the load contest, but I am paranoid about the back window breaking. A rear window guard is in my future.

The type of wood makes a big difference in how much you should be piling on the back of a gator. I had Alder that had been drying for about 4 months and was noticeably lighter than when it was green. Alder is considered a medium hard wood and is much lighter than you guy's that have Oak or other dense heavy firewood.
