Hi everyone,

My father-in-law has loaned me his old 1010 and rotary cutter while my 4044R is on order. The seat on the thing is hammered. I'd like to get him a new one as a way to say thank you for letting me use it. Any leads on where I could find one? Heck the seat that's on it may not even be the original one.

What a GREAT idea. Are you looking to restore to original? Here are the par numbers to do that.

Looks like one of our vendors has the items.

Seat Cushion

Seat Cushion

They look a little on the pricey side, I'd call them and confirm what is all included.

Another option

Looking at the prices of The parts Randy linked to you might do better going to a good upholstery shop.

I've had truck and boat seats done and they look factory. I'm sure your father would like all black like he has now.

This option might be a less expensive option.

Do a search on " K&M Manufacturing" in Renville, Mn. They make a LOT of replacement seat cushions, really great quality too. I checked on 1010 seats and they didn't show anything like your picture. Best to call them. You can't buy direct, but they have lots of dealers. The retail prices shown on their website are much less than GFP's prices.

I put a K&M replacement seat on my one antique tractor from a newer model tractor 13 years newer than my tractor. I went from a small formed pan seat with maybe an inch of padding to a high back seat with FOUR INCHES of great foam rubber in bottom & back and fold-up arm rests with 2 inches of foam padding. The Naugahyde covering still looks like new after eleven years of use! Wish I had this seat on the tractor when I ran it 6-8-10 hours a day every day all summer and on weekends in winter!

There was also a deluxe seat for the 1010, which is the one I think this tractor was born with, based on the framework behind the backrest. If I recall correctly, the weight adjustment was in this rear framework. The seat that is in the picture in post 1 is not the original.

Here is a link to the page in the JD Parts Catalog for the deluxe seat: Error java.lang.NullPointerException

The link prints funny, but it does work. I think replacing the seat as original will be an expensive proposition.

I don't know how to put the pages in like Randy does.
