Greetings all! After trolling the boards and gaining a lot of information and perspective to make my purchase I thought to go ahead and officially join you all.

I just took delivery of a brand new X728 w/54 deck and 45 loader. I noticed that many folks like to post a pic of their sparkling new machine with their first posts after delivery. Not me; I decided to attack an over grown area of my lot that hadn't been been cut since a local farmer cut it for hay last year. The result: my sparkling new tractor is now dressed in camo grass. I must say how impressed I was with how this machine blew right through my thick overgrown mix of mostly very thick and tall weeds.

Now my first question to you all...
Upon delivery I noticed the tractor had 20 hours on the hour meter. I though hmmm, sounds like a little much for a new machine, but I plan on putting hundreds on it so just a minor blip. The dealer spent some time with me going over operation and removal/installation of the deck and loader then I grove it around for a little bit and put it away. The next day I removed the loader and went to cut my overgrown lot when I noticed 22 hours on the meter. Ok.... then I cut the lot which was exactly a 2 hour operation. Before I reinstalled the loader the meter read 28 hours... whoa! So, I installed the loader which took like 5 minutes... then I read 29 hours. So, I drive the tracter to my back yard and backed it in its stowed location then a final check of the meter I read I'm now up to 30 hours!!! This is getting ridiculous.. at this rate I'll burn through my warranty before my first oil change.

Yes, I'm going to contact my dealer. But does anyone have any ideas? Is the "hour" meter truly a hour meter?

Welcome Coffeenut!

No need to hide under your deck. It is an easy mistake to make. Jfoi is correct, the hour meter has tenths on it. Here is another thread where someone else made the same error.

We are glad you are here and participating. It is your participation that makes this forum great. You have alot more mistakes to make to catch me. :mocking: Oh, we particularly like photos of dirty tractors. :good2:

Absolutely! Pictures with grass all over them shows them earning there keep! As a matter of fact, videos of them getting grass all over them is even better. :munch:

Ok, if there is a decimal point in there then I am going to crawl under my 54 inch deck and not come out for a long time.:hide:
Coffeenut... Maybe you need more coffee.

Don't feel bad. A few months ago I noticed my neighbor working on his ATV for two days straight. On the second day, I walked over to see what the HECK he was doing. Said it wouldn't start... he replaced the spark plug and wire, took the battery out, cleaned it and charged it. Drained all the gas out, and refilled with fresh gas and fuel treatment. He was to the point where he said he was going to SMASH IT....

I looked at it quickly, turned the "Kill" switch off and walked away. As he started it up, he was just kind of "staring" at it... and yelled "Thanks" in kind of a somber tone.

Moral of story... stuff happens to the best of us. :D

Decimal point was observed and I'm back out from underneath the deck (coffee in hand).

Thanks for the inputs. One of many lessons, I'm sure.

Spent some time this afternoon using the loader as a wheelbarrel to clean out the garage (0.8 hours to be precise:lol:). Better than the cart my wife wanted. Love that versatility the loader provides!

Have you considered decaf?

Welcome aboard. Yeah, that pesky decimal point can be tough to spot depending on lighting conditions.
