I bought new air filters for my little JD 4010 MCUT and there were two little catchup package sized packs of oil.
What do I do with it?

Never heard of or seen that before. Maybe to lube the rubber gaskets? That's al I can think of.

Guess it might seal better. Guess I'll do that.

I know on some of the small engines they want you to oil the air filter lightly to help catch the smaller dust. Perhaps a new trend? If so, I think a light spray would work better than a squeeze glob.

That was it. After taking out my contacts I could read the tiny letters. It was for a better seal. Also tons easier to put them in with the grease on.

Oh, grease not oil.

The K&N air filter I had in my mustang required a light coat of oil.

My atv has a reusable air filter, wash it with solvent, soak it in a bit of oil and it ready to go.
Correct... very common on ATVs and dirt bikes that use foam filters. But these tractors use paper air filters, usually it's best not to put oil on a paper filter.
