Looking at a 2017 2038r, 593 hours on frame, 10 hrs on new engine. Loader, bucket, backhoe, pallet forks. $34,000 Canadian.

Decent deal or?

Thanks

I would want to know why it needed a new engine. Because if it was due to abuse, then other components (e.g. transmission) could be just waiting to go next.

"original engine had a faulty valve cover which dusted the cylinders"

Is what I was told. Haven't looked at the machine yet. Headed to do that now.

Just over 25k usd, seems a fair price to me if it's in good shape and he's got receipts for the work

Yeah if they're telling the truth about that engine, that sounds like a great deal, and you get a new engine too. Whenever I've helped get an old tractor working again, the biggest obstacle was always getting the engine running. So engine reliability, to me, is the most important thing there is, and you're essentially getting a new tractor in that sense.
