Good evening everyone. New owner here… John Deere delivered my brand new 5065e cab tractor with power reverser a couple days ago.
Today was the first day to use it and decided to do some very light shredding with a 2 yr old bush hog 6’ shredder.
Everything was good for 20 min. Then I noticed the pto light wasn’t on anymore… sure enough, it wasn’t spinning. Came to a stop and turned the switch off then on again. Wouldn’t engage. Then, when I tried to move forward the tractor wouldn’t move. Any way I pushed the power reverser lever it wouldn’t budge.
Turned off tractor and back on and it would love again. As soon as I turn on the pto button the neutral light comes on and the tractor rolls to a stop.

turned off tractor and called John Deere and they were closed. Got back on and tractor worked fine for 15 min. Then the same thing. What’s really strange is when the shifter stops working if I open and slam the cab door closed it starts to drive again?!?!

many ideas? Checked the connectors behind the seat in case it was a seat sensor issue but they’re all good and clean.

really need to get some work done and can’t get ahold of the dealership till Monday. Hoping someone tells me I’m doing something wrong!

The door slamming fix usually means a loose connection or wire somewhere. Start wiggling wires in an organized fashion. Wiggle in a single area at a time. If you had a manual, you could follow the PTO circuits by color or number.

Do post back which wire or solution fixes the problem. You'll be helping someone just like yourself in the future.
