Dad bought this JD 20 dirt scoop 45-50 years ago at a farm auction. HPIM1571.JPG Though made for a 20-30 HP tractor, we used it with the 58 HP 720D. As long as you paid attention, it worked fine. Then, my uncle put it on his 4010! :banghead: He caught something & bent it quite a bit. We got it straightened out & re-enforced it. HPIM1572.JPG HPIM1573.JPG These re-enforcement's were meant for use, not looks!

I decided yesterday, this would make a good addition to my 40S at tractor shows. Brought it up from out back this morning with the 790 & loader. This afternoon, I started cutting off the ugly welds, it took five 1/8" cutting disks with the angle grinder & some cleanup with the grinding wheel: HPIM1575.JPG

When I finish cleaning & sanding it, I'll have to use a little body filler in places where I cut too deep & one dimple where the pipe was bent. JD "Classic Green" paint & period decals it'll be ready for shows!

The 20 scoop is finished & ready to put in storage until show season: HPIM1589.JPG HPIM1590.JPG

The hardest part was spreading the lower 3-pt pin arm over the knobs: HPIM1588.JPG

I just looked up the original operator's manual for the 20 scoop. It was originally bought new in 1960, Dad bought it in 1962. It was originally designed for the model 40 tractor!
