I had a 2004 4010, probably same. At 660 hours and 9 years, that infamous Ujoint off the engine shaft that drives the shaft to the HST blew apart. The mechanics, at that time (2013), had never seen it before. It's an infamous problem that continues with the present 2 series. I don't know why JD doesn't go to a flexible coupling that looks similar to a tire sidewall with 4 bolt holes in it. This is what our 1983 240D Benz had that saw 26 years and 230k miles with us. Had to tighten the bolts once, the only time I ever checked them. Think this would work fine on the front Ujoint that is almost impossible to get to (apparently on the 2025s, you can remove the instrument cowling to get at it on them).

I had a 2004 4010 as well and it was a great little tractor. At 650 hours I had to replace the driveshaft U-joint as well and one of the front axle bearings and seals. I finally replaced the battery at 11 years and not because it failed but didn’t want to take any chances going into winter.

Only other problems with the 4010 were the turf fronts and lower 3ph arms. Turfs aren't up to FEL work but give more side grip on turns. Had 2 or 3 times one of the fronts came off the rim. Used the Slime for a while and eventually replaced.

Didn't fully tighten the sway bar turnbuckles on the 3ph and ended up with a bend bar that holds the lower 3ph arms. Replaced that bar and broken turnbuckles.

Good tractor. Fuel use over 660 hours was 0.46 gph, lower than either the 1025R or the 2025R (prorated by hp). Wish I could get like a 2019R but with that front Ujoint replaced as a rubber disc like our Benz had.
