Not sure how I stumbled across these rear mounted mower conditioners but it looks like something well suited for my situation. I suspect I found the 20 or so page on line brochure putting the model of stuff from machinefinder into search engines to try and figure out what they were.

It seems this is an european product, I was most intrested in the smallest one a 324A but the deere salesman who has been sent to hay seminars wasn't particularly encouraging about getting one or why such a device isn't available here.

Anyone know of something like this available in the United States of America made by another entity. Or where to ask if Deere might soon improt them?

There is no established market for small moco's in the USA so they are not going to start importing. The europeans do a lot of small area farming so there are a lot of great tools available. The primary market in he USA is for large farms and there is a good profit margin on large equipment. That's a nice little unit in the photo. I use a 7' NH haybine which is fairly common and actually still available as a special order.

Things must be pretty scarse when I keep finding links to this thread on stuff I put into search engines.

The response from Deere customer service or somehing like that is as follows
The 324A Mower-Conditioner is not available or supported in the U.S. It is manufactured for the European market only.

I have however found Vicon, The main usa guy is currently over in Germany and will put these things into a container coming this way. They are working up a price, I have no idea if it is going to be reasonable. I can see a certain amount over a straight disc mower, it is a sale they wouldn't normally get. If anyone else thinks it is intresting send me a private message or figure out how to contact the main guy like I did.

Drum mower conditioners

The unit pictured is a 3 point drum mower conditioner. It is on the PZ design so likely it was made by Kuhn which purchased all the Vicon tooling and factories. Vicon is now manufavtured by Taarup in their factories. Taarup is a part of Kverneland Kubota now owns controling interest in Kverneland.

Thanks for the response, The vicon one I put a link to has a cutterbar solid across the bottom not drums hanging from the top like what I found putting khum Pz design into a search engine. Is this the difference between a disc and drum mower? Any Idea who might make the John Deere one in the post #1 picture, The Kverneland distributor seemed pretty positive It wouldn't be Deere themselves. Perhaps why they won't import.

I see you are a vendor Have you discussed being a dealer for the brands the improter of these things (Cummings and Bricker)? They were willing to special order one but are kind of hesitant to cut out their dealer network on other products or parts etc.

Small Mowers

The problem with a small 3 point mower conditioner is it needs a heavy tractor in the PTO 60 HP min. range. Most small operators want a mower that works on a 30-45 PTO HP range. We sold this machine in the 1980's and what ended up happening was the conditioner was removed and the unit was used without the conditioner. This market is very limited so the support from any MFG may not be what you would desire. There are many of these mowers made by a number of manufacturers sold in the USA without conditioners.

The future distribution of the Kverneland products is not known. Kubota purchased them for some reason and many believe that the KV products will be marketed in the USA as kubota.
