Rear shovel/implement for 2720

I primarily 99.99% of the time use my 2720 w/MMM as a cutter. I have turf tires and it has always been used as a cutter even by the previous owner. I am getting some gravel for my driveway. The driveway is in good shape and I typically get 20ton and spread it by hand to certain places in the driveway or have the truck spread it on the way out. I am interested in getting a rear mount scoop or shovel to spread it. Is that a good idea? Are the worthy and is there a better option such as a rake or something else. I am set up with a class3 hitch and for a bucket, but the bucket would be a waste for me and I think the rake or even a rear blade would more useful in the long run. We do not get heavy duty snow to the point that I need a bucket as I live in Virginia. So, any idea's at this point? I can certainly use shovel and wheel barrel but I thought a rear implement might be helpful. Thank you.

If you can get them to tailgate the rock down your driveway, then a box blade, rear blade, or land plane would work. For driveway work, you'll probably see a land plane most often recommended for maintenance.

I use a rake for light crown restoration then pull a rear blade turned backwards for smoothing.

A box blade or a land plane works great for spreading gravel.

Do I understand you don't have a FEL?

Yes, I do not have a FEL. The cutter is 99% of my needs. I have the 2720 capabilities but unless I really need one I most likely will not get one...

My driveway section that needs some extra gravel is under trees...the trucks cannot get down this section. It is not bad or crappy, but I use a WB and shovel, but thought I might try a rear shovel this time. They can drop the gravel right under the beginning of the decline and I can shovel it to where it is needed....

Get a box blade and you will be amazed how you lived without it so long.

Okay, that sounds like some good info. I have loaded turf tires. Will I need some added weight upfront? Is the box implement acceptable as a snow blade? I see some people have issues with cheap rear blades for snow, dirt and gravel. This sounds like a more useable item than just a blade. I would guess that a 5 feet box would be the way to go?

Yes a 5ft is plenty and cover the width of the tires. Try and get the heaviest and not the cheaper TSC stores ones.

A landscape rake is also great for spreading gravel. I "recondition" my driveway yearly to redistribute the gravel and level my drive using my 6' rake.
A good medium or heavy duty landscape rake is actually more useful than a rear blade for reconditioning a driveway. Box blade is best, as it will provide several different functions out of one implement.

I do have a 7ft. landplane, it works excellent in reconditioning a long driveway, but will never fully replace my box blade in my construction business. I recently got an angle/tilt rear blade, I actually enjoy using it more in the dirt than I do in gravel.
