Just heard this on the little AM country station that I listen to. Very sad. They are currently playing some songs from the Hee-Haw Gospel Quartet on the station's daily Gospel Hour.

He was a GREAT entertainer!! He could play just about any instrument and play it well!! This is one of my favorite Roy Clark videos.... Glen Campbell - YouTube

RIP Roy Clark!!

:hide: but mostly laughed at them heartly well fill lungs them girls had on them back then. of course my aunt and mother was in the kitchen at that time too.

they loved when them old fellas laying on the front porch sang their little song of despair:lol:

Since I was a kid I always thought Roy was one of the greatest musicians I had ever witnessed and still do. I always wished I could play all the instruments as he did.. I know of no one that can do what he did... and I've met and played with a lot of musicians in my lifetime. Thanks Giz, for posting.
I did like Big Jim's response on those hee haw girls too! I believe that's the only reason my dad watched that show! But he was also a musician so maybe deep down he appreciated Roys talent too.

Thanks for posting this Gizmo. I have fond memories of being a kid and hanging out at my great grandmother's house a lot. We always watched Hee Haw, good times. My area is a big tourist destination. Roy Clark was always one of a few names that would pop up from time to time as being a celebrity who would visit and be seen out in public enjoying the relaxed way of life here away from the spotlight.

I also remember him playing Cousin Roy on the Beverly Hillbillies (and Cousin Roy's "Big Momma"). He was a very talented musician and a very funny guy.

RIP Roy.
I'd forgotten about that! He was funny in that role!!

My youngest daughter shares her birthday with Roy Clark (although she has no idea who he is). I share my birthday with Buck Owens. What are the odds? :unknown::laugh:

I was fortunate to be able to attend one of his live shows back in the 80's. Very entertaining.
