Hello,
I finally got around to replacing the seals on the Kelley Backhoe, real big pain in the but! I had a 67 loader lift cylinder leak, so I purchased enough seals for the entire loader. I took apart the leaking one and man was it easy! the only problem I hade is when I was removing the cylinder for seal, the one inside, it shot out, hit me in the eye and disapeared into the vast workshop floor... my question is, the seal is, eh, larger at one side than the other, kinda like a lip on it. So does the 'lip face towards the top, meaning top of the rod or toward the bottom, toward the lock nut end?

thanks!

I don’t know on this but typically the fastest part of the lip goes towards the pressure so is your description, larger to the oil side . Like a seal with one side open, the open part goes towards the oil or pressure.
