Behind the cup holder on my 1025R is another spot to put stuff. Has anyone found a fitted cover for that or some kind of a sealed device that you could store stuff in. I have my garage door opener, maybe my phone, etc. I would put in there to keep out of the dust, rain, snow. I've done a quick look on the internet, but haven't found anything. I asked the dealer about a JD item. They said no. Don't want to use the tool box because it's behind the tractor, not easy to reach. I'm trying to see if I can get a plastic peanut butter jar to fit.

Let me know.

Thanks,
Dave

I would look at Pelican cases. They make all sorts of sizes, from just big enough for some SD cards to 16 rifle cases that are used for transport and I’m sure larger. I’ve personally used some of just about all sizes for work and pleasure, the smaller ones are pretty reasonable if you want/need water/dust resistance.

I know what you mean. I throw my phone in there when im mowing and when im done that thing is filthy. I remember back in the day when I had my jetski, there was a nice compartment with a lid that you could snap shut and put phone, wallet, keys etc in there and didn't have to worry about them getting wet or losing them.

I almost made a very bad decision turn into a bad day a week or two ago. I was working on some things with the tractor helping and had a 10" pry bar that I stuck in that compartment along with a couple gloves. I wasn't thinking about it but went from that task to mowing. I came around this tree and there were these gloves laying on the ground. I stopped and picked them up and right next to them was my prybar. They got yanked out of there by a tree branch. That pry bar would have most certainly been a flat tire or a blade ruiner for sure had I not had the gloves get pulled out with it.

So I learned my lesson and stopped putting tall items in that compartment.

For illustration purposes adding a picture. I'd love to see some semi sealed cover too. The cubby in question is here:

I don't think there is any off the shelf solution for that although I wish there were. Maybe someone on here can 3D print something. I'd buy that 🤞

Cut a piece of plexiglass or 3/8 plywood a tad bigger in that shape to make a cover. Fit to the bottom of the cover some rubber (windshield washer hose?) just inside the perimeter of the compartment. Press fit into place. Add a piece of 4" ID pvc about 3" high with a 4" end cap screwed onto the cover for 2d cup holder.

That's a bit of effort. I put my phone in a buttoned shirt pocket. Stuff that goes into the compartment is covered by a small hand towel. To keep things dry, use a small dry bag like ones sold at any scuba dive store. Many have lanyards on them. Divers Supply online has them, too. Pelican cases are too expensive, bulky, and therefore poor value, in my opinion. Ziploc type bags don't last for keeping things dry when used in that compartment.

For people putting their phones in that spot, or in the cupholder... I think you'll find that is more vibration than your phone is rated to handle. It's asking for damage to the internal components. I attribute it to the laser diode's failure on my old phone. I recommend against putting your phone in there unless you have some additional padding.
