I had to look at the calendar to see if it was April 1st.....
I had those self sharpening blades for a Cub Cadet back in 1982,,
Install them, run them longer than a normal blade,,, then buy new ones,,

The blade has carbide particles brazed to the bottom of the cutting edge,,,

I wonder if they are still available for Cub Cadets?? :dunno:

I wonder how well those newfangled blades will hold up to tumbleweeds.
Will probably sharpen themselves more quickly....
The DAY I installed the second set I ever owned, my wife drove the tractor over an exposed end of a concrete walkway,,

All I could hear was the nasty grinding,, :flag_of_truce:

Well, a couple weeks later, I built up the nerve to look at the damaged blade,,
a little carbide had been removed,, but, the blades went on to wear like normal.

Now that I think about it,, the blades were removed periodically,,,
the blade closest to the discharge opening would "wear" faster than the other two blade locations.

Since the blades came in sets of three,, I rotated them about once a year, to keep the wear even,,,

I was expecting three blades and a flat file to be included.
